This is a personal decision. No one else, friends, family, the police, or other well meaning people, can make this decision for you. But you can call the Crisis Line (233-7273 or 1-888-241-7273) and talk the decision through with an impartial counselor.

If you decide not to report the assault to the police, please seek medical attention. You need to be checked out to make sure you are "okay". You may want to consider emergency contraception and medicine to help prevent STD's (Sexually Transmitted Diseases). And call the Crisis Line to talk.

If you report the rape to the police, there are a few things you might want to know ahead of time:

The police will see that you have a forensic exam. It is a good idea to have the forensic exam whether or not you are considering pursing prosecution. The evidence will be collected and ready if you decide to continue with the investigation.
